DAIRIES’ RATES SHOW DECLINE AT MORRINSVILLE
Hoggets in the fat sheep section of the Morrinsville stock sale on Friday met with a ready sale at recent quotations. Rates for store hoggets were unchanged. Fat cows sold under strong competition at recent firm values. Boner and store cows also sold freely. Yearling Jersey heifers met with a steady demand. There was a full yarding of dairy cattle. Competition for top cattle was steady, but small and inferior pens were not in demand and, on the whole, values for all classes were lower. Prices: — Sheep.—Light fat wethers, £3 to £3 Is 6d; extra heavy prime lambs, £2 16s to £3; heavy prime lambs, £2 10s to £2 15s; prime lambs, £2 3s to £2 ss; light Southdown lambs. 31s to 345. Cattle. —Fat young Jersey cows and heifers, £lO to £l2; lighter fat Jersey cows, £8 to £9 10s; boner cows, £4 10s to £7; empty 2-yr. Jersey heifers and young cows, £5 5s to £6 2s 6d; good qualiyt yearling Jersey heifers, £9 17s 6d to £lO 13s; smaller Jersey heifers, £6 12s 6d to £7. Dairies. —Springing Fresian heifers, £29 10s; Fresian heifers in milk, £3O; best springing Jersey heifers, £l9 to £2l; good, £l6 to £18; medium, £l2 to £l4; others, £lO to £11; best-calved heifers, £l4 to £l6: others, £lO to £l2.
