CAL WELL PLANS MORE USE OF AIR SERVICES FOR IMMIGRATION

CANBERRA, July 23,

The Minister of immigration, Mr. A. A. Calwell, is considering a plan to double the flow of British immigrants by using aircraft for the first half of the journey and ships for the trip across the Indian Ocean.

The scheme would be adopted in ad dition to the free and assisted migrant programme of sea travel and would bring in 40.000 British migrants a year. The special air fleet would operate at full strength within four months of starting.
