RICHARD FARRELL TO GIVE RECITAL IN GISBORNE
Music lovers in Gisborne will have an opportunity of hearing Richard Farrell, the brilliant New Zealand pianist, in a recital in the Opera House on Saturday, August 14. This has been made possible by the Community Art Service, a branch of which was formed recently in Gisborne. Richard Farrell has just completed a tour of New Zealand for the National Broadcasting Service and has been acclaimed everywhere as a pianist who is destined to achieve world wide fame. He left New Zealand as a child prodigy and returned as an outstanding concert pianist. He studied under the late Madame Stokowski at the Julliard School of Music, New York. He has given a number of concerts in the U.S.A. and on completion of his present New Zealand tour he will appear in the Carnegie Hall, New York, which to musicians is the top rung of the ladder in America. The programme in Gisborne will appeal to all types of music lovers. The concert will be under the management of the Gisborne branch of the British Music Society.
