SURVEY MADE OF EQUIPMENT FOR AGRICULTURE
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 19. With the object of helping individual farmers and the Government in providing essential equipment for agriculture, an elaborate survey of tractor implement machinery and wire requirements is being conducted by Federated Farmers and some 50,000 inquiry cards have been distributed.
The organisation stated today:— "Hundreds of farmers have returned the survey cards with covering letters and the story told in these is astonishing. These letters make it obvious that with adequate equipment there is a tremendous potential increase in our export production which must greatly benefit New Zea-
land and the Empire.” After allowing for the fact that some farmers have adequate machinery and comparatively few need no wire, the organisation estimates that there are still 15.000 who have not replied but who need equipment. All the replies are being registered and the available supplies will be offered first to the farmers registered. The survey is being closed soon and the organisation is asking for the fullest response, saying that it is difficult for the Government to guess at farmers’ needs and more difficult to try satisfying their needs without evidence.
