CONDITIONS IN BRITAIN
Sir. —Some weeks ago there was a letter in the Herald sent in by a lady of Gisborne who is now in England. In this letter she states she either bought or saw for sale, shoes which cost £2O and other statements of which I cannot now recall. I sent the cutting home to a sister of mine, and have received a reply, in which she states it is a lot of twaddle. She writes to say that the best shoes can be bought lor £3 per pair Our Mayor also put over the air a tew weeks ago that the British people only received one egg per month to each person, which is erroneous. For quite a time now, they have received two eggs per week per person. There are a lot of things the British can get, which we should also be able to but don’t, owing to the brainless Government that is in power, a Government that received with open arms, a man who hates the British people like poison, nnd whose country was a haven to the enemies of the British, de Valera. Anyhow things are bad in England people here should refrain from making things worse than what they are. "ENGLISH”
