BRITISH WITHDRAWAL
ARCHBISHOP’S SUPPORT DENUNCIATION OF JEWS (11 a.m.) LONDON, April 28. “We must refuse either to think or speak about the inevilublility of another war. This fatalistic outlook will hasten the catastrophe we dread," says the Archbishop of York, Dr. Cyril Garbett, writing in the York diocesan leaflet. “We must make it plain, however, that there are causes for which Britain would fight rather than yield.” Dr. Garbett, referring to Palestine, says the Jews in efforts to create a Jewish Stute had used murder and lying propaganda. "When we withdraw, Palestine may become a bloodbath and Jerusalem a ruin. The British public opinion will not any longer tolerate the exposure of our men to the murder lust of those they have tried to protect."
