GROCERS TO OPEN
HOLIDAY FOR BUTCHERS WELLINGTON DECISIONS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 22. Wellington grocers will open on Monday This development is announced in an official statement issued by the Wellington Master Grocers' Association. The statement says the association has not asked the employees’ union to waive tile provisions of the award, but lias asked it to agree to an alternative day, agreed upon between employers and employees, to be taken in lieu of the Monday. Agreement to the alternative by the employees’ union is necessary if employers who open their shops on Monday are to avoid prosecution.
Tiie association, the statement adds, still hopes that the union will signify its agreement.
"Wellington butchers’ shops will be closed on Monday in accordance with the law.” said Mr. W. J. Mountjoy, secietary of the Wellington Master Butchers’ Association.
