R.S.A. ASTOUNDED
CLOSING OF SHOPS MONDAY AS HOLIDAY ANZAC DAY OBSERVANCE ( p A ) WELLINGTON, April 22. “Anzac Day is a day of commemoration and a sacred day.” said Mr. C. O. Bell, Dominion president of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association, when commenting on the closing of certain business premises on Monday next, "It is astounding to the N.Z.R.S.A. to think that any person or organisation should want to treat this sacred day as an ordinary holiday and the R.S.A. considers that the general public are entirely in accord with this view. "It is not too late, even at the eleventh hour, for employers and employees concerned, who are few, to agree to waive the provisions in any award and observe Anzac Day on Sunday, April 25, in common with the people of New Zealand, and the N.Z. R.S.A. earnestly requests them to do so," concluded Mr. Bell.
