RECORD TRADE VOLUME
BRITISH STATISTICS LONDON, April 29. Britain’s trade for March consisted of exports worth £121.000.000. the highest for any month except July, 1920, and imports, £178,200.000, the highest except for July, 1947, and 1920. Re-exports are £61,000,000 and the unfavourable visible balance £51,000.000, the highest since September, 1947. The volume of trade, allowing for the rise in prices since 1938, is estimated at 129 per cent, compared with the former record of 128 in January, 1948.
