30 PERISH IN CRASH
AMERICAN AIRLINER DISASTER IN ALASKA SAN FRANCISCO. March 14. The shattered and burned wreckage of a North-West Air Lines’ plane which was en route from Shanghai to Edmonton, has been found at the foot of a 2 r,oft it]-icier on Mount Sanford, east of Anchorage, Alaska, which is to the right of the course the plane was scheduled to follow. Rescue planes, Hying low, reported that there was no possible chance of survivors. The plane earned 24 passen eers and a crew of six. The plane apparently smashed into the 16,203 ft. Mount Canford at about 11 000 feet. The wreckage then slid 3000 feet down the mountainside in flames and was shattered on a canyon bottom at the foot of. the glacier The region of the crash is so rugged that it is accessible only by a ski-equipped plane or by a hazardous overland trip with a dog team.
