NEW CHAMPION’S RUN (P.A.) DUNEDIN, March 13. The _ New Zealand national mile champion, J. D. Sinclair, ran a brilliant race yesterday at the inter-faculty sports of the Otago University to lower J. E. Lovelock’s university record for the distance from 4min. 28sec. to 4min. 23 3-ssec. Sinclair cleared out from the field to run on his own against the clock.
Sinclair won the mile at the New Zealand championships in Dunedin last week in 4min. 23 2-ssec. The New Zealand record for the mile run, 4min. 13 3-ssec., was set by R. A. Rose in Masterton in 1926.
