VISIT BY ROYALTY

REQUEST FROM DISTRICT ‘'l am sure every citizen of the district would join me in inviting Their Majesties King George VI, Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret to visit Gisborne during their proposed tour of New Zealand next year,” said the Mayor, Mr. N. H. Bull, at last night’s meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council. On the motion of the Mayor, seconded by Mr. F. Tolerton, it was decided that the claims of the district for a visit should be placed before the district member, Mr. D. W. Coleman, M.P., and any other appropriate authorities. Mr. Bull said that Sir Apirana Ngata had communicated with him and voiced a request from the district Maoris that the King and Queen should visit the Gisborne district.
