40 OPERATIONS PERFORMED HOSPITAL EFFICIENCY (PA.) BLENHEIM. Feb. 26 The scene at he Wairau Hospital. Blenheim, yesterday was reminiscent of a wartime casualty station. The organisation was admirable and the reception and treatment of the victims was undertaken without a hilch. Entering the operating theatre at 4 pm. the medical superintendent. Dr, T Julian, except for a break when relieved by Dr. P. Fogarty, operated continuously for 12 hours. Altogether. 40 operations were performed and the last of the surgical cases was dealt with at 4 o'clock this morning Many of the nurses worked from 6 a.m yesterday until 1 a.m today. The hospital authorities stated this morning that two serious cases, which at first were not expected to survive had rallied during the early hours and were now regarded as out of danger.
