DROWNING AT OHOPE

YOUNG ASHBURTON MAN A man was drowned while bathing at the western end of Ohope Beach on Sunday afternoon. He was Mr. Herbert Lionel Armstrong, aged 31, of 207 Grey street, Ashburton. Mr. Armstrong, who was a Canterbury University College engineering student, doing survey work on the proposed Te Teko-Murupara railway scheme, was bathing with five companions. At about 3.15 the party got into difficulties and it was with difficulty that the four others reached the shore.
