ROAD METALLING
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
WAIKOHU COUNTY WORK
General maintenance and metalling has been carried out on a number of roads in the Waikohu County during the past month and the grader has been kept busy trimming up sections of the road, according to the report of the engineer, Mr. S. R. 'Currie, submitted to the monthly meeting of the Waikohu County Council at Te Karaka yesterday. On the Mangamaia road in the Mangatu riding holes were bored ready for the widening of the road, where there is rock and papa formation. This work will be completed when the bulldozer is available.
Good progress has been made with the realignment work on the Rere highway in the Ngatapa riding. Most of the filling will be left to consolidate before being metalled. On the Taumata road a track was' made into the quarry on Sherratt’s property and a place levelled to take the crusher, which was towed up. Everything is now in readiness to start the metalling programme.
The foundation course of hand broken spawls was laid on Bruce’s access road in the Kanakanaia riding, A dump of spawls is also being stacked in readiness for crushing for the top course. Repairs are completed to the Rakauroa, Langers, Kaiteratahi and Mangamaia stock paddocks. ’
