POLICE ARREST JEWS
MURDER OF BRITONS BIG INCREASE IN CRIME (10.30 a.m. JERUSALEM, Aug. 24. The police have arrested a number of Jews believed to have been implicated in the kidnapping and hanging of the two British sergeants near Nathanya on July 31. The police said investigations showed that the sergeants were held in the Nathanya area throughout their captivity. Colonel W. N. Gray, who announced the arrests, said there had been a considerable increase in crime in Palestine in the past seven months. Crimes on the police records totalled 21,000 and included 192 murders, 261 attempted murders, 150 cases of manslaughter and nearly 4000 serious assaults.
