WORLDWIDE FAST
JEWISH TRANSFER OF MIGRANTS TO LAND IN HAMBURG (11 a.m.) JERUSALEM, Aug. 24. The Jewish Agency executive has sent telegrams to all the members of the United Nations, except Britain and the Arab countries, protesting against the transporting of Jews from Port De Bouc. France, to Germany.
The telegrams stated: "We Implore you and other United Nations’ members to intervene to prevent this crime against weak and helpless men, women and children only anxious to secure their freedom and fundamental human rights. "We are confident that the entire civilised world joins the Jewish people in horror of this vindictive action which is illegal because Britain’s obligation under international law is to facilitate Jewish immigration to Palestine. It is inhuman and immoral because of the circumstances in Germany, which is a graveyard of so many million Jews.” The leader of 1500 Jews aboard the Runnymede Park said to. a mass meeting aboard the ship of! Alicante:— "You have only a few days’ peace left before the decisive battle at Hamburg. Cowards and traitors are free to land, but we who aren't afraid will stay aboard and resist to the end.” The three ships are expected to take another 10 days to reach Hamburg. Reuter's correspondent in Jerusalem says the Jews will sound the rain’s horn as a signal of “dire distress” tomorrow when a world-wide dawn to dusk fast will begin to mark the shipment to Germany of the illegal immigrants. All Jews between 18 and CO years will observe the fast. Cafes and cinemas will close, but shops will do business as usual. * Reuter reports that 45,000 Jews in the north of England will fast tomorrow. The Manchester and Salford Jewish Council decided to call on the British Government to abandon the decision to send the Jews to Germany,
