INFANTILE PARALYSIS
INCREASE IN BRITAIN (10.15 a.m.) LONDON. Aug. 24. Ministry of Health figures show that 646 cases of infantile paralysis were notified in England and Wales during the week ended August 16, compared with 568 in the week ended August 9 and 448 in the week ended August 2. A Ministry of Health official said: “Although the latest weekly figure is the highest so far, it is encouraging that for the second week in succession the rate of increase has declined. We must expect to go on recording high figures for some time.”
