BANKS TO FIGHT
NATIONALISATION ISSUE SYDNEY, Aug. 23. The general managers of Australia's trading banks at a meeting in Melbourne decided to fight the Federal Government’s nationalisation scheme. The general manager of the Bank ol New South Wales. Mr. T. B. Heffer said the Government’s plan to estab; iish a monopoly bank could be regarded only as an advanced step to regiment and control the individual's way ol life. He added that the banks would play their full part in a iatior.-w.ds effort to combat tr.e Government’s proposal. _______________
