CARGOES ACCUMULATE

The serious consequences from the lack of shipping between Bluff and Wanganui were emphasised by grain and timber merchants at a meeting convened by the Invercargill Chamber of Commerce. Before the war a regular service was operated between the two ports. After a full discussion in which the Southland members of Parliament participated. the meeting decided to send ,- deputation to Wellington to put the c;.: before the Prime Minister. Mr. 1 Fraser, (he acting-Minister of Supph Mr. A. H. Nordmeyer, and the shippin controller. It is hoped to arrange a meeting with the Ministers on May 15. Mr. H. W. Norris said there were 10.000 sacks of cats awaiting shipment to Wanganui, of which 2000 sacks were a carry-over from last year.
