FURTHER FINES
CYCLISTS WITHOUT LIGHTS The campaign against cyclists travelling at night without lights on their machines is still being waged in Gisborne by the police and the Gisborne Borough Council’s traffic inspector, Mr. T. G. Nowell. For the past two weeks a number of cyclists have been convicted in the Gisborne Magistrate's Court of this offence, which has become particularly dangerous owing to the blacking-out ot street lights in various areas during the hours of darkness. Yesterday six more cyclists were charged before Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M.. with riding cycles during the hours of darkness without having a light. In all cases they were fined 5/- and costs. Joyce Whitehead and Laurice Spence were prosecuted by the police, while Mr. Nowell proceeded against Donald McGlashen, Frank Griffin, Charles Edward Davies, and Eunice Joll.
