FIRESIDE CLUB
There was a good attendance of members of the Fireside Club at the last meeting which was held at the Parsonage, Palmerston road, on Monday last. The meeting opened with a hymn and devotions led by Mrs. S. Mason who gave a scripture reading and talk on “Jesus as a Man of Joy”, followed by prayer. The roll-call was responded to with useful hints and some very good suggestions were given. The president, Mrs. W. D. Tarr, welcomed one new member, Miss Willis, and a visitor in the person of Miss Maunder who is on furlough from India. 1 A play-reading lent enjoyment to the evening and was produced by Mrs. Hardman, the players being Mcsdames Vincent, Crichton, Russell, Tasker, Corscadden, McCulloch, Lee and Miss Orchard, It was entitled “Mere Men”. A grateful letter was read from the English recipient of a parcel sent by the club and arrangements were made for the despatch of five more monthly parcels to continue for three months. The hostesses were Mcsdames Tarr, Robinson and Tulloch.
