BIG INCREASE IN PRICES Prices of Australian wool showed an allround increase per lb of more than 48 per cent in the eight months ended February 2S, compared with appraisements in the corresponding period of the 1945-46 season. The increase in the average price per lb of greasy wool was 47.7 per cent and of scoured wool 62.2 per cent, states the National Council of Wool Selling Brokers of Australia. For greasy, the average price in the eight months was 23.80 d per lb. (16.1 id in 1945-46), and for scoured 39.79 d (24.23 d) per lb. Total proceeds of sales in the period were i 56,416,334 (£43,527,455), and the average value a bale waß £3O 8s Id (£2O 14s 7d). Wool in store awaitink disposal on February 28 amounted to 729,246 bales.
