DAKOTA AIRLINERS SHORTAGE OF SPARE PARTS (9 a.m.) NEW YORK, Jan. 28. A Douglas Aircraft Corporation spokesman blames overloading, inadequate maintenance and the shortage of spare parts for the majority of recent crashes of Dakota planes operated by foreign airlines. He said the United States Civil Aeronautics Board had approved a gross take-off load for Dakotas of 25,2001 b. Reports from Copenhagen stated that the airliner took off with a load of 26,8151 b. The British Air Registry Board allowed 28,0001 b.

The spokesman said that any such load was excessive. Many Dakotas operating abroad "were war surplus planes, the sale of, which did not involve the Douglas Corporation.
