OVERSEAS LEAGUE PLAN (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 11. A civic reception was tendered to Air Chief Marshal Sir Arthur Longmore yesterday. The Mayor of Wellington. Mr. W. Appleton, and the Minister of Finance, Mr. W. Nash, on behalf of the Government, expressed New Zealand’s great appreciation of the work of the Overseas League in fostering Empire goodwill and understanding. Mr. Nash spoke particularly of Sir Arthur’s most valuable assistance to the Government in advising in 1939 upon the steps which would be taken for Pacific defence, and also for the splendid work done by the War Graves Commission, of which Sir Arthur is a commissioner. , Sir Arthur said he hoped the Overseas League would gain many new members. Referring to the leagues proposal to foster child emigration to the Dominions, he indicated that the league had in mind children of eioht to 10 years of age. _____
