TRANSFER URGED
U.IC. PROTECTORATES (9 a.m.) CAPE TOWN. March 21. Dr. Malan’s Nationalist Party to-day demanded that the assembly of Parliament should petition the King for the transfer of the British protectorates Bcchuanaland, Basutoland and Swaziland to the Union Government. It was argued that the approval of the native population for such a transfer was not required. General Smuts promised that ihe discussion with the British Government, which was interrupted by the war, would be brought under the Union’s administrative control in due course, but in the meantime nothing should be done to cause any misunderstanding.
