WOMAN FLIER KILLED
(9 a.m.) LONDON. March 22. The first woman in the world to fly a jet plane when she piloted a Meteor a few months ago. First Officer Mrs. Rosamund Everard Steenkamp, aged 32. was killed to-dav when a Spitfire she was delivering to the Midlands crashed. The deceased was a wealthy South African who gave up a life of luxury to join the R.A.F. Ferry Service.
