STRICT CONTROL
45 DEGREE LINES 30 MIN. TIME LIMIT PARKING REGULATIONS Tiie change-over to 45 degree angle parking lines in Gladstone road lias been completed and, beginning today, those motorists who do not observe them correctly and also the 30-minute time limit are to be prosecuted. This decision has been made by the Gisborne Borough Council because of the incease in motor traffic as a result of the larger petrol ration. During the war, when there were fewer vehicles m use, there was not tlie same need to enforce .the parking regulations rigidly, but to-day, it is stated, the position is different. ■‘We ask for the co-operation of all motorists in considerate parking,” said the borough .traffic inspector. Mr. T. G. Nowell, yesterday. "We have made the spaces ample for each car to park in, and there is no reason why they should not be observed. Most people are already doing so. “We intend to take disciplinary action if motorists fail to take notice of .these lines. If one vehicle is not parked correctly between them, it throws all the other vehicles out. We will also enforce the 30-mirmte parking time limit in Gladstone road.” By the end of this week Mr. Nowell hopes to have all the .traffic lines in the town repainted. Each morning during the past week the traffic inspector and other employees of the Gisborne Borough Council have commenced work at 5 o’clock to make as much progress as possible before the traffic becomes heavy. A special last-drying paint is used for the lines.
