N.Z. HOUSING DISPLAY DOMINION OFFICE WINDOWS (Special Correspondent.) LONDON, March 4. “Join the R.A.F." invites a window display in the Strand. Rather oddly, perhaps, this appeal is made in the big window at New Zealand House at a time when the mass movement in the R.A.F. is for demobilisation. It is now nearly five years since there was a display in the two windows at New Zealand House. After they were shattered by the blast from German bombs in 1941, they were covered by green painted boarding. The bigger of the two windows is the second largest in London, being ill ft. by 18ft. To-day no plateglass is being made over Bft‘. high, so New Zealand's window is Sift, shorter than before the war. The marketing division so far lias been unable to secure material for displaying New Zealand goods, so the request of the R.A.F. recruitment centre to make use of the window was accepted. It has been admitted that the mode! of the record-breaking Meteor attracts far less attention than does the display of New Zealand State housing with photographs and plans, in the smaller window. With its more attractive exterior and brightened hall. New Zealand House may be said to have cast oil its battledrcss and once again is giving the tang of tlie character and atmosphere of the Dominion to the Strand.
