TWO-TOOTH RAMS
MEAT FOR BRITAIN SCHEDULE OF PRICES (P.A.) WELLINGTON. March 4. In a further endeavour to alleviate the grave meat shortage in the United Kingdom, the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board suggested that the United Kingdom Ministry of Food be asked whether mutton from two-tooth virgin rams killed before March 31 in the North Island and April 20 in the South Island would be acceptable. Advice has now been received that Britain will take this class of meat.
Every endeavour should be made by the producers to get the maximum quality slaughtered within the restricted killing period allowed. The schedule of prices to operate immediately for this emergency grade are as for second-grade wethers, namely: North Island, (i4lb and under, sijd; 05-721 b, as for C4lb, at sijd. South Island, 041 b and under, 51d; G5-721b, as for G4lb at sld.
These prices are related to the ruling schedules for higher grades of stock and will rise from time to time in accordance with the increased wool growth.
