' Such fragile articles as eggs and electric light, bulbs can he dropped with 100 per cent efficiency and accuracy by "storpedoes” from aeroplanes flying at 500 ft. This invention, which has just been removed from the Army Department's secret list, is a simple but very valuable piece of war equipment evolved by Australian ingenuity. It is made from cardboard for the special purpose of dropping stores. The “storpedo” is steadied by a hessian parachute witli a diameter of only 12ft, one-quarter of that normally used. The “storpedo” carrying 2001 bof contents reaches the ground in about lOsee from an altitude of 500 ft, and. under almost any conditions, can be dropped within an area 100 ft by 3001 t. The invention is now in general use throughout the southwest Pacific and will have its peacetime use for dropping urgently wanted goods at any place on the air routes.
