Tlie first of thi! Matawai stock sales com mciiees to-day and on Saturday the annual lower show in aid of Anglican Church funds will lie held.
The recent refreshing rain has been a great asset to the vegetable and flower garlens in this district. The rainfall for Janu,ry was G.7lin., which fell on 12 days, comqared with s.sGin. on eight days in January if last year. Several competitors from Matawai won prizes at the Motu flower show, which was .leld last Saturday, and the display ot .ladioli was outstanding. Mr. H. Bulst udged the vegetables, and Mesdames Birkctt ,iui Watt the flowers. Ice cream and dainty efi'eshments were provided.
