LUXURY AIRLINER
DUKE OF GLOUCESTER TRAVEL IN AUSTRALIA MODERN "EQUIPMENT LONDON, Jan. 2. The most modern luxury airliner in England, hearing tlie arms of the Duke of Gloucester, rests on an airfield near Manchester, says tho Daily Mail. It has been specially built for the use of the Duke and Duchcs of Gloucester in Australia. It will fly to Australia soon to await their arrival. The airliner is outwardly an ordinary four-engined Avro-York, hut the interior fittings indicate tho standard of comfort that will he attained in post-war airliners. During flights across Australia, the Duke will use as an "office" tho state-room upholstered in red leather from which he will bo able to maintain constantly communications with tho ground. There is a rest-room, sleeping quarters with thick pile carpets, an ultra-modern tiled bathroom and individual saloons. Meals will be prepared in an elaborately fitted electric kitchen and will be served in tho dining-room.
Wing-Commander Donald Roy Donaldson, aged 30, will be the speciallyselected captain. lie is one of the crack pilots of ihe Royal Australian Air Force and is recognised as one of ihe most accomplished instructors in England.
