MINERS IN BRITAIN POLITICAL GROUPING NATIONALISING OF MINES LONDON, Jan. 2. “In forming one big union tho minors of Britain have taken the biggest step forward of any trade union in history." said Mr. Will l,awther. acting-president of the new National Union of Mine-Workers, in his New Year message. Tie added that in a few weeks the mine-workers, in conjunction with the Trade Union Council and the Labour Party would inaugurate a campaign for the public ownership of mines. They now were one of the largest industrial unions in die world. No oilier trade union was comparable to them politically. The British miners had more than .40 members of Parliament, and controlled another 100 Labour seats, compared with die United States miners, who have no member cither in die House of Representatives or the U.S. Senate to represent them.
