WOOL FOR FRANCE
CONSIGNMENTS DUE LONDON, Jan. I. Tito first consignments of wool to reach France since the liberation are expected soon at the great textile factories of Koubmx and Toureoing, says the Daily relegraph :- correspondent at Lille. These factories, which are among the most modern in l ie world, are idle because of lack of materials. Recent reports indicated that the French textile mills escaped serious damage during the Gorman occupation. Advice from 1-rnnco was that the country was practically devoid of wool supplies and in November in the chief centres the machinery was only 10 per cent active. The goods produced comprised 80 per cent rayon, 5 per cent wool und L> per cent shoddy. Textiles were, consequently, of poor quality and shipments of the sheep's staple would be eagerly welcomed. Their quick purchase was not a question of money as many of the European countries had ample financial credits abided which had accumulated since 19-10 when the German occupation occurred.
