On nine months of last year, lighter falls than the average rainfall for each of the corresponding months was recorded and in the majority of cases the falls were considerably lighter than those registered on the same months of the previous year. However, with the exception of 1943, the rainfall figures recorded at Gisborne lasi, year show no great deviation from those of several preceding years. For a number of years the rainfall has been less than tinaverage and in occasional instances as much as loin, less than tin- average fall tins been recorded.
