300 ACRES OF HAVOC
AACHEN FACTORIES (British Official Wirelens.) RUGBY. July IG. Three hundred acres of Aachen were devastated on Tuesday night and 27 factories have already been identified as destroyed or damaged, according to a photographic record of the raid. Reconnaissance planes were first sent out the day after the attack, but fires were still raging and dense smoke, which reached a height of four miles, made it impossible to photograph more than a fraction of the damage.
