GERMAN ADMISSION
NO BOMBERS TO SPARE REPRISALS ON BRITAIN LONDON, April 9. “The Luftwaffe is too deeply engaged on the various fronts to spare planes for reprisals against Britain,” said Major Bley, the Luftwaffe spokesman over the Berlin radio. “Our people may. ask ‘Why don’t we take reprisals? How long is this going on?’ We frankly need the Luftwaffe against the enemy’s armed forces and not against civilians. Much of our airforce is engaged on the Russian front where we have hundreds of planes flying daily. The enemy has to pay heavily for attacks against residential quarters.”
