THOROUGHBRED SALE
GISBORNE OFFERING PRICES UP TO 100GNS WOODVILLE PURCHASER A sale of thoroughbred horses on account of several vendors was held by Messrs. Common, Shelton and Company, Limited, on the Gisborne showgrounds to-day. A large attendance of buyers was attracted, but bidding on many of the lots submitted was not brisk. Generally speaking, the bids were not up to the vendors’ reserves, and the horses were passed in, although some deals were taking place privately. The highest price of the sale was lOOgns. for Mr. A. T. Smith’s black colt by Kincardine —Jay Bird. This colt was passed in at 70gns„ but was sold afterwards to Mr. S. Campbell, Woodville, at lOOgns. Another of Mr. Smith’s offerings, a black mare, Jay Bird, was passed in at 62gns. and a filly at 502gns, Mr. C. G. Ancell’s Boldstep Mas sold at 50gns. Other prices ranged up to 31gns. Prices were:—
