ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
ANNUAL MEETING , At the annual meeting of the St. John Ambulance Association on Monday night, at which the Mayor, . Mr. N. H. Bull, presided, the district officer, Mr. C. E. Bickford, drew attention to the lack of space for practical training and urged that the association should find more suitable and spacious accommodation. The matter was left in the hands of the incoming committee. An inquiry as to whether officers were covered by insurance against accidents when on duty was made by Mr. Fearnley. When it was pointed out that they were not, the matter was referred to the incoming committee for consideration. Mr. H. H. De Costa referred to the severe loss to the association owing to the resignation of Mr. N. A. T. Redstone, who had given many years of valuable service as ambulance officer. On his motion, it was agreed to send a letter of appreciation to Mr. Redstone, and on his retirement to send him a cheque as a token of appreciation. A motion of condolence was passed with the relatives of the late Dr. Harold Angell, who, at the last annual meeting, was elected president. The election of officers resulted: — President, Dr. W. A. Bowie; vicepresidents, Drs, E. Ewart Brown, R. M. Gunn, F. Kahlenberg, A. L. Singer, J. W. Williams, Nina Muir, Isobel Wise and Doris M. Black; committee, Messrs. H. H. De Costa, N. H. Bull, T. G. Johns, E. J. PoSwillo, J. B. Smith, F. Tolerton and Mesdames E. W. Berridge, E. W. McKenzie, A. M. Beale, W. E. Goffe, and M. A. Keany, with power to fill the remaining vacancy. Mr. W. E. Chamberlain was appointed auditor. At a meeting of the committee held after the annual meeting, Mr. H. H. De Costa was elected as chairman.
