ESSENTIAL FARM MEN AUSTRALIAN DECISION (2.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 29. Essential men engaged in primary production will be exempt from military service, states the Minister of Labour, Mr. E. J. Ward. Where specific instances of such men being called up were given, matters would be adjusted without delay. “While realising that the Womens Land Army can assist to overcome seme primary production labour problems, we say emphatically that women-power is not the solution to the dairy farmers’ difficulties,” declares Mr. J. L. Shute, general secretary of the Primary Producers’ Union. He declares that addtional and competent man-power is the vital need.
