NEW GARRISON HALL
CONTRACTOR STARTS FOUR MONTHS’ WORK Within . four, .months,, if all goes well,. 'Gisborne’s new garrison hall will be.completed ,and ready for occupation, according to the expectations of Mr. D. Glengarry, contractor for the work. The contractor’s gang was on the site of the new hall yesterday, and carried 'out preliminary work ir, connection 1 with the clearance of the site. To-day a‘start was made with necessary filling at the Stout street end of the section, where the floor of the building will be 3ft. above the level of the footpath. At the Ormond road end, the entrance will be about flush with .the footway. No difficulty will be encountered in regard to materials, Mr. Glengarry said' to-day, as urgent Government works for defence purposes were well cared for in this respect. Much of the material, to be used would be of local production.
