HOMING PIGEONS
The Poverty Bay Homing Pigeon Society’s race during the week-end took the form of a three-clock-two, and was flown from Takapau, an airline distance of 133 miles. The race provided D. McLean with his first win of the season, the winning margin being smin. _ , Results were:—D. McLean’s Blue Boy and Blue King, 1095yds per min., 1; T. Crosby’s Blue Daisy and Peter Pan, 1075yds per min., 2; P. Markie’s Scotch Boy and Black Hawk. 1071.4 yds. per min., 3; B. Waugh’s Red Heckle and Reliance, 1062.9yds per min., 4; T. Crosby’s Toby and Gay Hunter, 1061yds. per min., 5: Mrs, C. Markie’s Windy Way and Spot’s Gift, 1060.7yds per min., 6. The following owners also competed: R. Hall and J. O'Gorman. Next week’s race will be flown . from Timaru, an airline distance of 528 miles.
