Children’s Ward Visits.

Proposals for improving the visiting arrangements for the children’s ward at the Cook Hospital were placed before the Cook Hospital Board at yesterday’s meeting in a letter from the New Zealand Housewives’ Union. The medical superintendent, Dr. R. J. B. Hall, reported that, unfortunately, it had been necessary to close the ward to visitors for some time owing to almost continuous epidemic conditions there. Where children were seriously ill, arrangements could be made to have the parents visit them, but the danger of cross-infection was too great to permit of regular and general visiting. The board held that the precautions were necessary in the interests of the children, and should continue until the situation with regard to epidemic complaints improved.
