AN HOUR A DAY

RESTRICTION ON HOSES WATER POSITION WORSE .Because Gisborne residents have failed to fully, observe the suggestion put forward by the Mayor, Mr. N. H. Bull, that attended garden hoses should be used only between hours he proposed, it has been necessary to prohibit the use of hoses during any other period and to take steps to prosecute anyone failing to observe the schedule. By a special notification to-day, the Gisborne Borough Council announces that unattended hoses and sprinklers are prohibited, and attended hoses may be used only at the following times: —. , Kaiti and Victoria Tbwnship, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Whataupoko, 6 p.m. to 7 p.ih. ~ Te Hapara and town area, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. “We intend to give this a good tryout,” stated the Mayor to-day, “and if these hours are properly observed and if residents do not abuse the privilege of using their hoses for an hour a day, the total prohibition of the use of all hoses may be postponed for some time. The residents must faithfully abide by these hours, or the endeavour will be useless. “It is our intention to keep a close watch on the use of hoses,” Mr. Bull added, “and if we find any offenders we will not hesitate to prosecute, for it is only by the co-operation of all concerned that we will be able to postpone the time when we will not be able to use our hoses at all.”
