BRIEF COUNCIL MEETING TRIBUTE TO LATE M.P. (Herald Correspondent.) Before the business of the Waikohu County Council commenced 10-day, the council rose and stood in silence as a mark of respect im memory of the late member of Parliament for the district. Lieutenant A. G. Hultquist. Arrangements were made to obtain the transfer of a surfaceman’s cottage site on the Taradale road on terms set out by Mr. W. D. Lysnar. Mr. P. D. Russell, wrote drawing attention to damage done to his road fence.—The engineer, Mr. A. G. Lucas, stated that the matter had been attended to. Messrs. Bennie S. Cohen and Son forwarded a form of agreement to enable the council to employ a worker suffering from a permanent partial disablement. The agreement was signed and sealed. The Children’s Health Camp Association wrote asking for a donation.— It was decided to buy £lO worth of health stamps. The Cook County Council wrote suggesting that a conference of local bodies in the East Coast district be held early in December. —The letter was received.
A circular was received from the Department of Internal Affairs dealing with hydatid prevention.—lt was decided to maintain a stock of the hydatids cure for sale. Those present at the meeting were Messrs. A. A. Fraser, chairman, H. H. Dods. C. Gaukrodger, J. B. Williams, H. C. Boys, M. Doyle, and H. J. F. Tombleson.
