APPEAL TO CHILDREN (Per PiesH Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Minister of Education, the Hon. IT. G. R. Mason, has issued' a statement asking school children to collect all the ergot they can during December and January. There is a great shortage in the United Kingdom and New Zealand is wanted to supply as many tons as possible. The Department of Agriculture is organising a drive and is asking the Education Department to encourage children to collect ergot during the two months in which it ripens. Arrangements have been made whereby grain and seed merchants will buy it from children at 3d to Gd an ounce, according to quality.
