AID TO HOME GUARD.

LOCAL BODY VOTES PROVISION RESTORED (Per Preßs Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Local bodies in future will be empowered to make financial contributions to the Home Guard if they so desire. This provision is contained in an amendment to the defence emergency regulations, 1941, which was gazetted last night. Power contained in. the regulations was previously held by local bodies, but when the Home Guard came under the army administration recently, this power was abrogated, and the regulations reintroduce it.
