RELIEF DONORS CLOTHING FOR FRENCH TRANSFER TO GERMANY Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, Oct. 30. A national relief fund has been started in unoccupied France, and at Lyons a collection of second-hand clothing was made. One Frenchman gave away an overcoat. In the pocket he slipped his card, writing on the back of it: “Please let me know if you need money.” Two months later he had a reply—from Germany. The German thanked the donor warmly for the coat, but said he did not need.money. The indignant Frenchman demanded an explanation at the Prefecture. He was told that the clothes donated had, in fact, been sent to Germany, where •the 'winter is more severe than in France.”
