TURK DETERMINATION “EDGE OF VOLCANO” (Reed. Nov. 1. 9 a.m.) ANKARA, Oct. 30. Addressing crowds attending a parade commemorating the eighteenth anniversary of the founding of the
Turkish Republic, the President of Turkey, General Inonu, said: “Turkey is an island of peace but is ready to undertake anything in order to preserve her integrity if she is drawn into the turmoil. It is now on the edge of a volcano. “Only a conscientious hard-working people ready for every sacrifice will be capable of overcoming the difficulties.” MESSAGE FROM KING LONDON, Oct. 29. On the occasion of the eighteenth anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic, His Majesty the King sent the following telegram to the Turkish President, General Inonu: “The anniversary of the proclamation of the Turkish Republic affords me a most welcome opportunity of sending you my warmest greetings and good wishes for your health and happiness and for the welfare and prosperity of your country and of the Turkish people.”
